Sandra Hurd's Biography

      Sandra Hurd is a co-founder and head stylist of Gye-Nyame Hair Gallere’ & Day Spa, which was established in 2004. Prior to launching her own firm, she attended Beauty School, where she learned all the chemical processes about hair. After which she was employed at Black Roots Salon, where she worked for 6 years and increased her knowledge of styling hair and where her passion for styling hair grew stronger.

      Sandra is a strong believer in the Creator and herself that someday  a business owner. With her strong belief and encouragement from her boss and clients she worked very hard to pursue her dreams, and today she is a very successful co-founder of Gye-Nyame Hair Gallere & Day Spa.

      She chose the name Gye-Nyame for her hard work and strong belief in the Creator. The name originated from Ghana, and it means, “Fear Nothing Except The Creator.” With no fear that she will be successful, Sandra has worked very hard to become a true business owner she envisioned.

      Sandra styles for Celebrities such as Krishna Lewis, MTV1 host, singer and model, and the late great Luther Vandros. She also styles the hair of Michelle Porchia, who is a successful speaker, business woman and founder of Innergize Day, based in Trumbull, Connecticut. As a Jamaican, Sandra is very proud to be the stylist of the second Congress Woman, Yvette Clarke, a Caribbean native. She has received an award from Yvette Clarke, “Women celebrating Women”.

      Sandra is actively involved in the Community. She is a proud supporter of the Grenadian Women’s Association and Women of Great Esteem.

      Sandra’s vision for her business is that in the future there will be a chain of Gye-Nyame Hair Gallere & Day Spas, with Queen Latifah and Oprah Winfrey as spokes persons. Her motto is “Believing and being true to yourself will lead to your success.”
